Disciple of Carrion: test

Description

This is test model for a Chaos renegade army I'm planning, called (as you can guess) the Disciples of Carrion. Might change it to something else in the future. I don't know.

So yeah, since this is just a test model, so there's no highlights, just washes. I found out that using Badab Black wash on Dark Flesh actually gives a nice camouflage scheme.

Sorry if you can't see all the details. That's due to two reasons:
1) I haven't used my camera in quite a while so I regaining my ability to use it,

And 2) Never, EVER build a model then paint it in one go if you want to get the niggly details to stand out.

So yeah. Comment if you like it, fave it if you really like it and critique is always welcome. :)

You asked a crit. You get a crit.

Overall I like the choice of colour. A little too close to the Blood Pact, maybe, but there's always room for subtle change-arounds. My Iron Warriors are good example of that.

What i can see that would need immediate fixing for later date is the thickness of the paint. I think you use it straight from the bottle, no? A tip: pour a very small measure of water into the pot (like a few drops), lid on and shakeyshakeyshake! Ready diluted paint for use out of pot. Top it off with more water as the consistency starts dropping back.
No need to do this with Vallejo, but works wonders for Citadel Colours.

You also need to consider using that Badab Black on the silver metallics as well. They are far to bloody bright for such a darkly coloured mini. Also, consider shading the legs before applying the wash to create the splotchy camo-pattern.

The skin looks a tad weird, is that a supposed effect?

The shoes/boots need shading too. Consider using a Devlan Mud wash there. And the black of the lasgun needs a highlight even if that wasn't your original intention. Codex Grey edge highlight should do fine.

Nothing should be done to the red, imo, because it looks fine. If you want to, you can edge highlight it with Dwarf Flesh and bring the colour back down with a Baal Red Wash. Use Blood Red for less obvious highlight, but with Baal Red wash nonetheless.

Hope this helps. C:
